Every business owner knows that a great funnel is key to consistent sales, but what happens when it stops converting like it used to? More often than not, it’s because of hidden leaks in the funnel – places where potential revenue slips through, unnoticed. These leaks are costing you big.
In fact, fixing just a few of these revenue leaks can make a huge difference in your bottom line.
So, let’s take a look at how to quickly assess your funnel and uncover those hidden leaks, shall we?
The 3 Biggest Revenue Leaks in Most Businesses
When I review funnels, there are three common places I find revenue leaks—places where sales are slipping away without anyone noticing.
- Lead Capture: Your leads might not be qualified or engaging with your content the way you need them to. Low-quality leads and poor follow-up can cause your sales funnel to collapse from the top down.
- Nurturing: Even if you’re bringing in great leads, if you’re not staying in front of them long enough or providing value consistently, they lose interest. If they’re not nurtured, they won’t convert.
- Conversion: At the end of the funnel, are you making it clear how to buy, and are you addressing objections? If your conversion rate is low, it could be a clear indicator that you’re missing a vital element in your funnel or your offer isn’t compelling enough. (When we dive in, you probably have multiple conversion points throughout your funnel.)
How to Quickly Assess Your Funnel
You don’t need weeks to analyze your funnel. In fact, you can do a quick audit in just 30 minutes or less. Here’s how:
- Step 1: Review your lead capture page. Is your messaging crystal clear? Are you offering something of real value in exchange for their contact info? If your opt-ins are low, you may need to tweak your offer or your language.
- Step 2: Evaluate your follow-up and nurturing process. Are your email sequences engaging your leads and driving them towards the next step? If your email open rates are low, test stronger incentives to open or more relevant content (or both).
- Step 3: Check your conversion process. Are you clearly addressing objections, showing the value of your offer, and making it easy for prospects to say yes? If you’re seeing cart abandonment or a drop-off in the final stage, it’s time to fix those conversion gaps.
The Hidden Sales Gaps That Cost You Big
You’re bringing leads into your funnel, but if they’re not converting, there are hidden gaps in the process that need fixing. Here are some sales gaps that may be costing you more than you think:
- Reason to Buy Now: If there’s no urgency built into your funnel, prospects will delay their purchase decision, often indefinitely. Adding authentic urgency through limited-time offers or bonuses can boost your conversions.(Don’t use fake urgency!)
- Poor Follow-Up: Not staying in front of your leads regularly, or failing to address their objections, can lead to missed sales. Automated follow-ups that address common concerns and provide valuable content can turn a hesitant lead into a customer.
- Broken CTA (Call-to-Action): A weak or unclear CTA is like a brick wall at the end of your funnel. Your CTA needs to be loud, clear, and compelling. If your CTA isn’t compelling enough, you’re missing out on sales.
A Simple Tweak That Boosts Conversions Overnight
The good news is that sometimes, fixing your funnel doesn’t require major overhauls—it can be as simple as a tweak that makes all the difference.
One of my favorite simple fixes is improving the clarity and visibility of your Call-to-Action (CTA). If your CTA is buried at the bottom of your page or hard to find, no one will click it. It’s essential that your CTA stands out and is placed strategically throughout your funnel. Try adding multiple CTA buttons on each page, making it easy for your visitors to take action without having to search for the next step.
