Content is King.  It’s the New Black. Seriously.

Everyone is doing it.  You should be, too.

If you are an entrepreneur or small business owner looking to grow you business, then you should create a blog website, if you do not already have one.  Period.

Why, you may ask?

Here Are My Top 5 Reasons To Blog Now.

1. Content is King, and Rising.

Every major search engine and social media platform is giving greater “weight” to content driven links and sites than their competitors.  If you are looking for customers with an old-fashioned link to a capture page, you are likely losing leads and customers.  Social media sites show more content-driven posts, and, if you are relying on search engine results, then look no further.  You simply have to be marketing with your content.  Every seminar and webinar I’ve attended in 2015 is focused on this issue.  All the membership-based sites and search sites are focused on their users being happy, which is why they want marketers and business to focus on content.

2. Speak Directly to Your Target Audience.

Blogging allows you to write posts or article on several topics that are relevant to your audience.  You can create a list of categories when you create your blog, and offer a selection of topics that rotate to consistently deliver value to your marketplace, and create goodwill among your audience.  After you move from beginner blogger to intermediate, you can do a little research into what types of posts your target audience may want to read.  Check out forums and social media groups to learn a little more about the areas of their interest, then research some solutions, and blog about it to your audience.

3. Engage Your Followers, and Grow Your Network.Social_Sharing_Image_blog

This is the big brother of your target audience.  These are people that have already expressed interest in your or your business. They are your followers and fans.  You owe it to them to always have relevant content for them.  Content is king, and you can include all kinds of media in your blog posts – videos, pictures, infographics, whatever helps you help your followers.  The more you give, the better position you will be in within your community and marketplace.  Those who give freely and always help out inevitably find success. It’s the way the universe works.  The more you help and teach others what you have learned, the more people will be drawn to you and your business.  By posting regularly to your blog, you can develop a closer relationship with your followers, and help them more.  As a real bonus here, you can also increase the size of your network and get more followers by encouraging Social Sharing by your readers.

4. Avoid Overwhelm & Information Overload

Did you know that the number one reason new marketers get overwhelmed and overloaded with information is because they don’t let enough of it back out?  That’s right.  If you just Consume new information, Act on it, and then Teach it to someone else by producing content of some kind, it will go a long way toward helping you avoid that dreaded overwhelm.  Think about it.  Your brain can only process so much information within any given time period.  If you keep taking in now courses and products without letting that information back out into the world, it strains your entire system.  However, if you simply write a blog post, and teach others what you just learned (and took action on), then you are ready to learn more.  Problem solved.  As a crazy-easy bonus, this helps to position you as a leader and authority in your marketplace as well.  Pretty cool stuff.

5. One Word: Retargeting

Shhh.  Don’t tell anyone.  Just kidding!  Everyone has been screaming this from the rooftops since January.  If Content is King, then Retargeting is the Rage.  Let me explain… You visit a nice fashion website looking for a new outfit.  You look at a couple of things, but don’t buy.  Then, suddenly, one of those outfits follows you around for days…maybe even weeks.  You see, the website owner grabbed info while you were on the site.  It’s all legit, and is really very cool.  This allows you to market directly to people who have already been to your site.  They already Know you, and it helps you hasten the Like and Trust that you need to develop with them over time.  Retargeting allows consumers to have the content-rich environment they desire, while still allowing businesses to market to them, without seeming salesy or pushy.  You are simply offering them things they have already shown an interest in – Hmmm.

In this way you’re directing your content to people that are already interested in your blog and what you promote.
